The climate in December was pretty typical for the month of December. Temperatures in the beginning of the month were in the upper 30s and lower 40s and by the end of the month were, for the most part, seasonably in the 20s and 30s. Snowfall started mid-month and continued pretty steadily through the remainder of the month without any major snow events.

The minimum daily low temperature for the month was 7.1°F. The average daily low temperature was 23.7°F. The maximum daily high temperature for the month was 54.3°F. The average daily high temperature was 37.9°F. The overall average daily temperature for the month was 31.1°F.

There were 1,053 Heating Degree Days in the month of December and no Cooling Degree Days.

There were 10 days with measurable, liquid precipitation (and/or snow melt) in the automatic rain gauge. Liquid precipitation for the month totaled 2.24 inches. Manual measurement of precipitation for the month, including rain and melted snowfall in the CoCoRaHS gauge, totaled 2.42 inches.

A total of 11.2 inches of new snow fell during the month. The greatest, total depth of snow on the ground during the month was 5.5 inches. The biggest single snowfall event for the month occurred on the 27th and 28th and totaled just under 4 inches. It was the second snowiest December for records going back to Winter 2005/06, and the 8th snowiest month overall since Winter 2005/06.

The National Weather Service office in Cleveland issued one High Wind Warning and 2 High Wind Watches for Summit County during the month, as received by a S.A.M.E. receiver at this location.
